The Awareness of Social Inference Test (TASIT) (PDF)DescriptionPDF Version of The Awareness of Social Inference Test Manual.
The Awareness of Social Inference Test (TASIT) is designed to assess social cognition in people with acquired brain injuries, neuropsychiatric and developmental disorders. It uses videos of actors in everyday situations. It is suitable for use by speech pathologists and clinical neuropsychologists to assess aspects of social cognition for diagnostic, management, and treatment purposes. TASIT comprises three parts. Part 1 measures the ability to categorise emotions while Parts 2 and 3 use probe questions to assess the ability to understand the feelings, thoughts, beliefs, and intentions of the speakers as well as what they are mean by what they say (pragmatic inference). TASIT has alternate forms and normative data for around 400 adult speakers (Form A aged 16 to 75+; Form B; 16-40 years) and 650 adolescents (aged 13-15).
