The Comprehensive Assessment of Prospective Memory (CAPM) Manual (PDF)DescriptionPDF Version of The Comprehensive Assessment of Prospective Memory Manual.
The Comprehensive Assessment of Prospective Memory (CAPM) is a questionnaire designed to evaluate prospective memory function in people with brain injury. Remembering to perform intentions at a future point in time, or prospective memory is essential for safe independent living and employability. The CAPM measures the frequency of prospective memory failures, the amount of concern they cause, and the reasons for memory lapses. Self-report and significant other versions of the CAPM can be compared to determine the patient’s level of self-awareness for memory impairment. A detailed manual explains how to use the assessment and its established psychometric properties including normative data. Neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, speech pathologists, and other rehabilitation professionals can use the CAPM to understand the nature and extent of prospective memory problems in their patient’s daily life. The CAPM can provide a person-centered basis for goal setting prior to memory rehabilitation and a means of evaluating the effectiveness of memory interventions.
